My last video card purchase, I went against my tried and true recommendation of eVGA and bought BFG, and now look where it gets me.

I only bought it to take advantage of the double lifetime warranty ... I can't have the wife seeing a $350 charge on the card for a video card, so I give my buddy cash, he buys it and then transfers ownership to me after a week. Worked fine up until now.

This was known it was going to happen to some GPU company's when Nvidia anounce who's getting the Fermi's and who's not list. I think it had something to do with branching out of Nvidia's reference board design was why Nvidia drop BFG. They were aloud to continue making the older Nvidia cards but BFG decided to just get out of the market all together. BFG could had gone and join the ATI bandwagon. Instead BFG wanted to make PSU and other nicknacks. Best Buy droping them also didnt help them out either.

In the end, it appers to be bad business decision, Look at XFX, Nvidia drop them from the Fermi list too cause XFX drifted too far from Nvidia's reference design, But they were quickly to support ATI and have motherboards to support them. The same faith could happen to EVGA since they remain exclusive to Nvidia but luckly they have their overprice Foxconn motherboards to support them

I was looking up something and found that BFG was form from VisionTek downfall. deja vu all over again.

BFG rising from VisionTek's ashes - News at GameSpot

VisionTek, once one of the leading producers of retail graphics cards, recently 2877869announced that financial problems would require that the company be sold or liquidated. VisionTek's uncertain future affected both consumers--particularly those trying to redeem the company's promised lifetime warranties--and Nvidia, which relies on its prominent board partners to do consumer marketing.

BFG Tech, a new US-based company formed in part from former VisionTek staff members, is looking to step into VisionTek's place. BFG plans to launch its first graphics products into the retail market on October 13, and it has distribution commitments from both Best Buy and CompUSA. The first products, which will be sold under the Asylum brand name, will be reference GeForce4 boards, but BFG also plans to release cards based on the upcoming 2875258NV30 that will have added cooling and multimedia features.

John Malley, a former VisionTek employee and BFG's director of PR, explained that Nvidia usually has two major launch partners--for example, VisionTek and PNY in the case of the GeForce4. According to Malley, BFG has a good relationship with Nvidia and will be one of the major launch partners for the NV30 debut, which is expected later this year.

One reason BFG has been able to take off so quickly is the fact that the GeForce4 products it's preparing to market were originally manufactured in China for VisionTek by Mitac. Malley says that the cards have been sitting in Mitac's warehouse since VisionTek failed to pay for them. Before their launch, BFG will put the cards in newly branded packaging, add a multimedia bundle, and set up a tech support staff to back a promised lifetime warranty. BFG and VisionTek are competing on more than one level, as BFG--which currently consists of only seven employees--hopes to continue to recruit VisionTek employees.

I think EVGA could get into trouble with he warranty on the Fermi cards due to their heat. It will be interesting to see how long my 470s last idling at 80 will last. Now don't be disrespecting my favorite MBs BTW.
