Web Design Noob (me) Need Help!!

I Need the best web design program that can meet the following requirement.

I just want to be able to draw custom pictures or objects and have the program link that to various parts of the website. Maybe be able to design the whole website on my home computer then get it to transfer to my real website (if that's possible).

I'm 100% new to the web design stuff, but if I get a good program to use, everything will fall into place quickly.

I have the website already and it has a bunch of templates, but they are not really what i'm looking for.

    Any help would be tight!

ALSO: If anyone is good with this web design stuff, I would like a couple peeps who I can PM or maybe even call if I run into road blocks or need some fingers to point me in the right direction. (with their permission of course)

    Thanks Lair

Dreamweaver CS5 is the best and easiest to use.

But, it is expensive. Although for what you get it is well worth it.

that's the one i was thinking about trying... i don't think i would drop $400 on something without ensuring it was 100% what i wanted

thanks Apache, I'm already feeling better about that CS5 before even trying it!

Do you want "what you see is what you get" (WYSIWYG) or like actually coding the site with HTML, CSS, etc?

I have hand coded/designed sites a decent amount (using all free stuff, btw!) and am willing to help if you have any problems. I prefer hand coding things instead of having a program do it for me because I like having more control.

I was having some trouble a few months ago and asked Sirex for help and he was really good with helping, but he appears really busy right now so it might be difficult.

Dreamweaver also gives you the ability to code and or edit code.

I also mess around with with PHP, HTML and MYSQL. I'm much more of a lower level network protocol person but, I can usually figure stuff out. If you have a prob don't hesitate to ask.

I like the what I see is what I get. Seems like a really good program and I can design the site with little coding necessary.

I don't even know how to go about forums, profiles, email accounts etc. etc.

                      But in time

And I will definitely throw an email ur way if... i mean WHEN i hit a road block

                      thanks again!

Microsoft FrontPage has been replaced by Microsoft Expression Web and Sharepoint Designer, which were first released in December 2006. I have used both Dreamweaver, FrontPage and the Expressions. Dreamweaver is better, more powerful and more intuitive to use.

+1 Expression Web sucks. Sharepoint Designer is quite nice if you do a lot of development for SharePoint or SQL Reporting, this is my default tool currently with work.

I've used them all... But I always seem to go back to:
