And where did you put all those fans? Also, why is the 3dMark only reading 2.8 Ghz for your speed? Just some random questions on what is otherwise something that is making me jealous that I can't match right now due to my debt load from vacations this year.

Hey Rand thanks for the questions

Yes, for now it have one hard drive I will install the old hard drive from my old PC later. I may add one more later on. I just need to finish up some things before I go to the next step.

As for the fans. I replaced the 2 Corsair fans on the H70, Replace the Cooler Master rear exaust fan, Install 1 fan on the bottom case (currently disable untill I get the wiring cleaned up) 2 fans near the HHD rack. And 1 exause fan for the GPU cards. I was planing to have 2 fans for the GPU exaust as push - pull to get the heat out but its seems to do ok with one for now. I also have 2 230mm fans. One in front of the case and one on top next to the H70. I notice the 230 on top isn't doing much as a exaust so I may remove that one. So total 9 fans in this case The case sounded like a mini jet. Took me a few hours to figure out the Aerocool 2000 settings. And now its all better. Fan1 (H70 fans) did give me all kinds of issues and beeps. But I figured out to leave the H70 fans on auto instead of manually throttle the fans back.

And as for the 3dMark only reading 2.8 Ghz. Very good question. When I saw that I was stump myself. I downloaded the CPU-Z and it read the same thing.(except for this screenshot) So Im thinking it could be auto throttle back or something. I dont know to much about i7s (I was a AMD guy ) or if the mobo settings is throttling me back I havent really mess with the bios to much.

Caddys here are a couple of links to help you with the new I7 terms etc. You could have something like speed step enabled and you could disable it in the BIOS. I would also check out the Elite tool that you can get form EVGA.

This is just one thread over at the EVGA forums and if you haven't been there it's a great source of information.

      EVGA X58 Overclocking Guide

Also don't forget to register you EVGA product or else the warranty is void.

It is really easy to get lost over there with the huge size of the forums and all.
