    Bookmark sharing.

A friend told me that there was a program out there that would allow you to sync your bookmarks over different computers. I used to have bookmarks on my Google toolbar but those were hijacked by my wife. After searching around a bit I found several options but I was hoping to get some first hand opinions. Does any use an app for this?

I just don't let the little woman coop my bookmarks.

I don't know about apps for this purpose, but could you upload your bookmarks to one of the free cloud storage sites and just pull it down to the right folder on other pcs? This won't be efficient if you add to bookmarks a lot, but I only add a handful a year so this would work for me in a pinch.

Lol I wish I had discovered her hijacking before it was too late.

I did find some directions for using dropbox for this but they seemed complicated. TipsAndTricks/SyncFirefoxBookmarks - Dropbox Wiki

The app my friend told me about was simple to set up and did everything automatically.

I haven't had to use a shortcut app, but here's a Windows alternative if you're using IE.

You can create a file directory, create a desktop shortcut to that folder, then drop that shortcut onto your browser shortcut bar. Now it's ready to use.

Whenever you want to add a new shortcut to your collection, drop it on top of your folder shortcut. That puts it into your new folder. To open your new list of links, click folder shortcut (and then double-click to launch a link).

If you have a google account (i.e gmail) and you use chrome it will autosync the book marks to different systems if you want.

Is this a different set of bookmarks from the ones that are on my hijacked Google toolbar? I give this chrome a try and see.

I use XMarks. It works in both Firefox and Chrome. Using that, my bookmarks are synced between my laptop and desktop. I really like it.

Keep in mind Xmarks is discontinuing their service after January of 2011. You should have recently gotten an email from them about this as well.

I use it and also pledged $10-20 a year to keep it going under a new developer.

What Firefox should do is snap up the code to it and clean up their own in-house bookmarks sync app .... its atrocious compared to Xmarks.

I just went to Xmarks to see if this works across three browsers and I found this. It says that they have been acquired and even have an Android ap.
