Google TV vs Nettop vs HTPC

Trying to figure out which way to go....

Mostly I just want to watch streaming video from any website..flash is a must...and use services like Netflix.

I just need to choose the form factor. Yes I know I could build a box myself, but I am looking at the following. Would like to hear your opinions.

    Google TV via Logitech Revue:

    Nettop boxes:

    ZBOX

    or HTPC

I'm going to have to say I'm going to go with the Google TV setup. I know google has already gotten too big for their britches, but they haven't done anything that doesn't work well yet.

Hell they've already logged over 140,000 miles in an auto-pilot vehicle on California roads.

If your just looking for streaming, surfing and nothing else GoogleTV is the way to go. Google TV also caught my eye. It can also be a way to kick the cable bill to the curb but ABC,NBC,and CBS currently block their shows on GoogleTV. If it wasnt for Discovery Channel, History Channel, ESPN, Nickelodeon, MSNBC, I would had cancel my cable and buy a GoogleTV. Oh yeah, I need MTV cause of the Jersey Shore

Definitely go with GoogleTV imo. HTPC's are only really useful when you need full flexibility and customisation. But they can also be touchy little buggers.

As with all newest technology, some details are still brewing. Broadcasters are making noise about maybe not allowing their shows on G-TV. This should all be resolved fairly soon.

I took a look at the Revue and I'm a little bummed Logitech didn't implement cross compatibility with the Squeezebox product line. Seems like a no brainer. If they had I would buy it in a second!

                +1

I'm pretty hardcore Unix person and even I was like screw MythTV. I'm sure the non open source stuff is prolly easier. The thing is any technology I bring into the house it has to pass the toaster test for my wife (i.e. it has to have a UI as simple and as intuitive as a toaster).

If you have cable, you can use cablecard to turn an HTPC into a badass DVR. MaxPc just built one that can record up to 4 shows at once using a Comcast cablecard.

The Sony Google TV box comes with a BluRay player...

But still thinking the Logitech, which comes with a keyboard, versus Sony, which comes with a controller, will be my choice.

I have spent some time with the Sony - controller is nicer than it appears and the GUI is nice with a few extra Sony apps including their movie library on-demand.
