yeah Caddys83 i got the same impression as well, trouble with making a post like this is it often gets misconstrued and twisted all outta proportions before too long and she's left with as bigger headache then when she started

I myself like most here have built more then a few Gaming rigs, and we all know too easily that its easy to forget when someone new to PC's ask a simple ? and we all go off on our own Tangent

so without putting too much pressure onto this overwhelming post as it is

when it comes to CPU's always get the best cpu for your needs
i have seen alot of posts here pointing to CPU's people sugguest but no reasons as to why thery are pointing to them

here is some background on the CPU's that have been pointed to

Tri core CPU's are nothing more then Failed Quad core CPU's Amd took a different route, rather then Recall and scrap all of their Quadcore CPU's that didnt pass their OC scalability checks they decided on a new approach and that is to kill the architecture of the 4th core so as to provide a stable platform CPU in doing so the Tri core was born, it was a smart investment for them since the Icore3's and Icore5's from Intel were on the horizon at the time of being released.... so to be honest unless your building a plain setup without using programs that are directed at utilizing the full potential of your CPU's then the TRI cores are your target range

however at the birth of Black edition CPU's the ones with unlocked multipliers there came the ability for Motherboard MFG's to add in features like Unlocking of the dissabled 4th core technologies, this is a feasable means providing you have the core componants that will allow you to do that, since your not overclocking then we dont need to go into that aspect and thus ill ommit any further info on this in this post

Dual core CPU's are great for minimal tasks, like watching streaming videos, playing an occasional game or surfing the internet and the likes to network servers or private servers, however that being said they are on the cusp of being outdated even by todays means, as there really isnt a means to utilize them for build it yourself platforms

for todays games and the games to come you'll deffinantly want to invest into atleast a Quadcore but as it comes by todays standards knowwing that your not gonna be going into the OC aspect of the gaming machine there are a few things you will want to know first hand

take the AMD 955/AMD 965/& the AMD 970 chips, they are all the same chip they are all built from the 955 Platform and in knowwing that for your application the 955 may be your best bet the reason being is that all 3 come as Black Editions or BE by the designation of their chip value, this is good to know when you do get into OC'ing ... take for instance the gaming aspect of a quadcore vs. a dual core platform
an AMD 955 will out perform a Regor 245 by a larger measure as it doesnt have the bottleneck that a regor class does, and i surmize you are inquiring about this update as you have noticed some in game play on BFBC2 as opposed to other games, the reason being is that BFBC2 is primarily a game that is dependant largely on the CPU to provide its architecture to be read and distributed to the graphics card rather then being read and distributed by the graphics cardyou follow so far?

in otherwords your CPU is doing most of the work in that of how the information is sent to your graphics card rather then say that of COD series that is built to utilize that of the GPU saving the CPU the burden of building the game and running it so that it can be freed up to run the more critical background services hence the bottle neck issue i speak of above

so going with a Quad core would be in your best intrests instead of just updating to a faster dual core or a failed quadcore design

Me personally i run a 955 Black edition Quadcore ...i do OC'eing and currently i have mine stable @ 4.2Ghz on a Dual looped water cooled system, not bad considering my cpu at stock speed is a 3.2Ghz chip and i have had it as far as 4.9Ghz but it was over kill for my needs

with this chip i currently have and at the moment im typing this up i am in BFBC2 , i am streaming 5 videos , recording 4 of them Seeding 13 torrents and uploading 7 of them surfing the internet and surfing the internet did i need to OC the chip no not at all as i could do the same even without the OC

these AMD 955 Quadcores are an exceptional chip and the only thing i would say to anyone purchasing one is toss the stock fansink for water cooling or that of a decent copper tower airblock, cause the cooler you can make these chips the better they run

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
