Does BF2BC have a fps cap?

Just trying to figure something out, does BF2BC have a cap of 200fps, or is my system just topping out?

I just took these three the top one was before I got in game the other two were with me running around with a flamethrower to give the cards a load.

Hmmmm, now I'm thinking fraps isn't giving me accurate readings.

You are correct. I never made it past 200. I don't know why. I didn't really care either. Because the game used to give me ~40FPS on launch.

Also, Fraps is never wrong, never. It's simply not possible.

Ok that makes sense then. The only reason why I'm questioning it at all is because I'm using that Tint feature with Team Speak which has an fps counter and I've seen it go much higher, like 220+ I just thought those numbers seemed too high to begin with. Especially comparing it to some of the stuff I get from Futuremark.

I just built this system just over two months ago or so and just getting around to do some bench marks on it. The only point is just trying to predict what my next upgrade will be. I usually get about two years out of a gaming system with some kind of upgrade about half way through. Just have to wait for some of these new demos to come out.

I'm wondering why the heck my FPS were so low when I changed my settings to low?

I have noticed discrepancies between TINT and FRAPs as well. I would bet that FRAPs is closer to being correct.

Could be a memory or CPU bottleneck.

FRAPS is very close to the FPS reading that I get from my EVGA precision program and that's pretty accurate.

I lowered the res o the lowest possible setting and set everything to low and i was able to get it the peg at 200 where there appears to be a cap.

I wish I could OC my CPU a bit more but I'm having trouble keeping the temps low. Next week I may remove my HSF and see if it's seated properly.

Do you see any evidence of a bottleneck? How would I track this down?

It is hard to quantify a CPU or memory bottleneck. I guess the easiest way to test would be to crank up your CPU frequency a little bit and see if your FPS goes up.

Realistically though as long as you are getting more than 60 FPS you should be ok, so I don't know if I would mess with it unless you just want to see how high you can get a stable OC on your system (which is what I normally do ).
