    Fraps movie question.

What's the best way to tame the file sizes in fraps. A twelve minute video Is almost four gigs. Any one recomend a program to shrink that down?

Fraps produces its videos uncompressed, hence the filesizes. Run it through a compression codec(i.e. xvid/divx/h.264) and youll be fine.

Is this hard to do? I had a heck of a time changing one a few years back. Is there a guide somewhere?

Its pretty simple depending on the software. I use some software I purchased *cough* to encode video. I'll see if I cant get some freeware stuff tonight and whip up some screen shots.

Download Handbrake, its a free video encoder. Seems pretty simple to use.

This was about an 18 sec video I made of plants vs zombies using fraps.

I selected my file as the source (upper left corner that says source).
Go to the video tab and select your codec. h.264 is what i use.
Select your output folder (where the encoded vid is placed)

then click the green start button. It will then encode (this can be CPU intensive sometimes).

New file i named pvz is only ~3mb

Hey I was messing around with a program called imtoo and utilizes the cuda procs in the graphics cards in addition to the main CPU. It took only like 20 min to convert a 7.8 gig file.

I dont even use handbrake, i just downloaded it to make the screenshots

And unfortunately I cant use mkv. I stream all of the videos I encode over my network to the xbox360/tv, but the 360 doesnt play .mkv (or i haven't found a way to force it to yet).
