Whats Out There?

So last year I was wanting to upgrade my GPU as I only have an old 8800gtx OC2. Never got around to it. I'm back on the hunt. What good cards are out there? Do I go ATI or Nvidia? As far as cost, Im looking to spend no more than $400-$500 cdn.

i dunno much about ati but the GTX 460 or 580 are pretty sweet. i might be getting one of them next month as i too currently had an 8800gts running.

Well I went by the computer store and talked with a few guys...

Installing drivers now then will be testing it out in game

Actually the newest Nvidia Card GTX580 is faster than the ATI Cards.

That card will be a really good performer. Dirrect X10 performance should be on par with the higher Nvidia's offerings. It takes a little hit in the DX11 area though. Still a very respectable card. Would like to see some bench marks on it if you get a chance,

Yea I was looking at the gtx580 but to double my cost for a 15% increase in performance wasnt justifiable for my budget. Ill do some benchmarks later on

If your cpu was clocked to 4ghz I'm sure the scores would have been equal, if not higher. Either way that is really awesome card for the money

I would love to get it to 4ghz but have not been able to find any setting that is stable....Im not an OC whiz so dont want to fudge with too much

Weird Im showing no reading for my shader clock...

With an adjustment of the fan profile in Precession I have gotten it up to a core over 700 with a max temp in the mid 80's.
