Sad thing is, my system is actually in transit to me . When I go to newegg order history, I cant even click on my p67 mb and the cpu just goes to a deactivated page(even though I thought the problem was with the motherboard chipset).

My timing has been classic. Case goes on sale the day after, HDDs go on sale the day after, and a recall the day after....I cant even get mad at this .

I don't know how Newegg will play this. If they won't let you RMA all the new parts, maybe you'll want to make your build to ensure everything works before you RMA the MB. Replacements might be 2+ months away.

Apparently, this defect is more of a life-shortener. It doesn't prevent the system from functioning. That's why they didn't catch it sooner.

This is what I have read also and because it sounds like MS is trying to do the right thing you are probably safe building it and then they will send the new part to you when its available.

I am betting that as a "fix" they are going to offer free PCIe SATA cards to use instead of the onboard 3G ones (which won't be a bad deal for most people, especially if they give out cards with 6G controllers). It would certainly be cheaper than replacing the mobos.

FUrry, I'd go ahead and set the system up and at least make sure it works. Like Qicmee said, who knows when they will actually be able to provide a replacement or fix.

As always, Newegg remains 100% committed to our customers' total satisfaction. In keeping with our commitment to our customers, we are extending the return period for your motherboard by 90 days or until replacements become available from the manufacturer, whichever is greater. Intel expects to have a new revision of the P67 & H67 chipsets out around April, at which point first-run motherboards with this issue will need to be physically replaced in affected systems.

From a technical standpoint, the design issue can be bypassed fairly simply by not using the Serial ATA (SATA) ports that are affected. Your motherboard?s manual should identify your SATA ports by number, and at a minimum you should see ports 0-5 (6 ports in total) listed. Ports 0 and 1 are Sata Rev. III (6Gbps), and do not appear to be affected by this problem. Ports 2-5 are SATA Rev. II (3Gbps) and should not be used.
