Well, I do not have an Ipad, but I have an Itouch. If I had the means I wouldn't think twice about one, especially the 2nd gen one.

I'd get it for just watching movies, e-reading and web surfing alone. Here are some of my favorite aps I use on the itouch that would be that much more awesome on the Ipad:

that does seem to be how mac makes most of their cash... make it cool looking, and then just keep releasing newer versions so all the trendsters who bought the first version has to buy the 2nd one.

i will give them props though, the iphone( do not have one) really did change the "smart phone" age

Two quick things I saw which seem to suggest that it's had relatively few improvements from the first IPad, and seems to have lower specs in some areas that its new competitors: Motorola and HP. Perhaps it would be better to wait for version 3.0, save the upgrade costs by getting the complete deal, or buy a version one for a good price if you are set on Apple.

I have the iPad, wife got it for me last Xmas. Didnt know I was getting one... Doh! Otherwise I would of told her to wait since I knew the new one was coming out the beginning of this year.

But yeah I enjoy mine. The new CPU and GPU should be a huge improvement. When selecting several emails to delete them it plays an animation of the email and you can see the animation get jumpy on my first gen. I find mine pretty useful for meetings and taking notes, also my kids enjoy the games on it and watching movies.

Wish they added the rumored SD slot. And not sure if they added the Retina screen like in the iPhone 4 and Macbook Pro's

They did not add the Retina display, from what I've seen. I don't remember the source, but something mentioned it wasn't an HD screen.
