A lot of cards have two different RAM points.

Ps the 768MB is still enough these days hence why people still use the card.

You should find the card you want on performance and wait for the price to come down, I saw and EVGA 1Gb 460 se on sale for $159.00 which seemed like a good price.

ok, its a gtx 460, and from reading, this cooler they have on is a beast, and i can expect to OC this OC card if i choose, and by a lot.

decided i didnt need 8GB of ram, just wanted it. so removing that saved me 45$ and change, and put me with this card into an acceptable price, including my OS upgrades.

i think in 2-3 years when its time to upgrade again, ill just shoot myself . lol
