Drivers Cause GTX 590 To Burn???

As much as I love Nvidia, I just dont know what to say. Bad driver, Bad card. Right now its too early. Anyone think it could be a power spike from turning the system off then on? What ever it is, AMD fanboys will have a field day with this.

Well I would assume this was due to overclocking of some sort?

That could be true. Something similar happen to techpowerup in their 590 review cards.

Surely it can't be the drivers. Unless the card is getting overcloked or over volted at software level.

Could be be a design oversight.

Is this a one off or being reported as a wide spread issue?

That looked like some kinda power surge or something similar. Just rewatched it at 720p and full screen, there is something wrong there, maybe the PCB is faulty? And that would have to be a good amount of voltage for it to jump that far.

Maybe if it was in a case it wouldnt have done that or maybe it would have just fried the gpu, looked like it might have hurt the mobo in the pic.

This video is suspect to me. Why are they filming this first off unless they new it was going to happen. I say it's a bad over voltage with over voltage protection disabled.

In both they were overcklocking the cards with more than 1,2V and default is 0.90-0.925 as Nvidia said maximum that those VRMs can hold is 1.050V so no shocking surprise here why they burned out.

Looks like a spark shoots out from the Flashing LEDs to one of the close un-used 6pin connector..

It looks like it was due to over volting during OCing.

Nvidia, Asus put the clamps on GTX 590 voltage - The Tech Report

The main cause of the problem, as we've noted, appeared to be excessive overvolting during overclocking attempts and the failure of the card's onboard power-protection circuitry to prevent the worst.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
