    Odd speaker problem

    Situation:

My wife's Dell 2400 uses an add in sound card, a C-media CMI something or other. When we plug in her Dell speakers they don't work, occasionally we'll hear a little gargle of sorts.

so I figured, alright, I'll plug in my logitech speakers (which work fine on my PC). Well, same thing, they don't work either.

YET, my Altec Lansing headphones works perfectly in the same jack....

Why would two sets of different speakers not work in the green jack yet my headphones do?

Any ideas? I figured her speakers died but was amazed when mine didn't work either but my headset did....LOLz!

    Help?

    Thanks! Merry Christmas!!!

Not quite the same software setup, as this original post is concerning Vista, but its worth a try:

Hmm, those links don't really work I think...

See, she has integrated sound but I bought an addin card, and the integrated is already disabled, etc

And it is opposite of that vista post, I CAN hear from headphones, just NOT from speakers hehe

        Thanks for the tries though!
