someone had stated in a different thread that they had to force BC2 to run in dx 9.. what exactly was the issue that made you do this?

i can not run the game in DX 10 or 11, i have to force it to run in 9... i am guessing it would run and look better in a higher version? either way, my graphics are maxed , and it runs fine... just annoyed and curious as to why it wont run in any other mode. is this an ati compatibility issue?

running a HD 5770 with whatever the most current drivers are.

It's not an ATI thing that I'm aware of. I have an HD 5850 and am running it with no problems with DX11.

Not sure if this is what you are talking about but there was an issue that had to do with long load times between rounds and the way to fix it was to force DX10. Long load time between games. - Cain's Lair Forums

It could also be your older OS.

Most likey the OS or drivers....I have a HD 6950 and it runs fine in DX11 with full settings

The issue i was having was random crashes during playing. My screen would go black and i would have to hard reset my PC. I had heard that a lot of issues with BC2 were to do with poorly coded DX10 elements. I forced DX9 in the settings.ini and all my crashes stopped.

I am however running a quite old driver that i need to update badly. When i do i will be re-enabling DX10 to see if my crashing issues have gone away.

its not my old OS anymore duke :P, im now a win7 user. i just havent gotten around to posting new pics( having issues with putting old rig into box,, i think i broke the mobo trying to affix the GD stock 775 cooler.

i was just curious as to the issue as i get the game to say "preparing to launch" then i get a white flash screen, and then nothing, the monitor says " invalid signal" and then nothing. i can still hear the game in the background.

ive ran shogun2, infact every total war game i have, and every HL source game i have and they all run fine. BC2 runs fine, i just cant run in dx10 or 11.

maybe its my card. it was an "open box".

Things like invalid signal and out of range usually mean the game is running at a refresh rate higher than the monitor can cope with.

Go to your settings.ini and see what is listed next to RefreshRate=

already tried that, i can run it at 75 or 60 hz using dx9, i can not run it at all using dx 10 or 11 at any hz.

when i plugged in my new vic card, it "told" the monitor to run at 1600x1200 @ 75 hz. the monitor could handle it, but i didnt like the layout, so i went back to 1280x1024

Hmmm. Sounds like a strange one. Do you have another monitor to try? Have you tried running the game in windowed mode?

over the last week, i have had 2 seperate C++ redistributable updates. one was like a 2008, the other a 2010( do not remember exactly) i rememer when the game first installed itself, those were things it installed.

I went back into the settings file, told the game to run DX 11, and it does. weird.

eitherway, DX 11 is awesome, the effects are very nice. tracers look so different now.

One was 2005 and the other was 2008. I had them too.

Not sure if they've fixed anything for me. Haven't had time to change anything.
