Thanks for all of the advice. What I'll probably do is keep a bunch of items on my Newegg wish list and see what's what when October rolls around.

I think a high end 1366 CPU matched with a pair high end cards will play any game that comes while Sandy Bridge is still popular. I'm sure the enthusiast chip set for Sandy Bridge will be really sweet but it's not enough to ditch your 1366.

When Sandy Bridge came out, the 2600k held its own against the 980x in almost all cases, for a third the price. The only tests that it really lost in were the ones that took advantage of the extra cores the 980x has. The 990x will probably have a little more of an advantage, but IMO not enough to justify the price difference.

Very interesting read. So I guess Im screwed since I only have the i7 2600 and not the K version. Could I over clock if I wanted to? Ive never done it before and Im not really an enthuthiast for this kind of stuff.

i think you can overclock if needed, its just not as easy as the unlocked multiplier.

but honestly, you dont have too. i bought the black edition AMD( unlocked muliplier) it runs awesome!! i wont bother with OC'ing till i start to notice performance issues. which i doubt will be for anytime soon.

JK it's really cool that you built you own gaming rig.

I was really suprised that it actually turned on the first time. I actually lost a bet that something was going to go wrong and that I would have to take it to like the Geek Squad. In a couple months I plan on putting the computer into SLI and I just got a 2nd hard drive and Corsair 850 watt PSU for free because they duplicated my order.

How hard is it to SLI a computer? Anyways I can always upgrade to the 2600K when I start to notice performance issues but I dont plan on it because I bet in a couple months they will come out with an even better processor lol.

So far ive been playin the latest games on full res and settings and absolutely no lag so I think ill be good for at least a year maybe 2 before I need to upgrade the CPU (and motherboard if necessary) cause thats easy enough.

All those upgrade issues seem pretty minor when compared to putting a whole rig together so I would just take it as it comes.

to SLI,, you plug in new card, plug in power connectors. hooking up the sli connector is even easier.
afterwards, upon reboot, you'll probably need a driver update, eitherway, just go into the control panel and click "enable sli mode"
i mean this in a good way, but it is so easy, you may feel dumb for having asked( no question is dumb, but seriously, SUPER easy). then you'll be possibly awed at the GREAT performance!!

If you right click on the desktop you can get an option for the Nivida control panel, where you can find your SLI options.

No SLI options listed. Would these options only appear once the second graphics card has been installed?

That may be the case but I thought it appeared before that, did you instal the Nvida software?
