Where did I get the myth of you can't skip a slot then? This certainly make me want to get another card now! Can't wait for October. When I do my PC Makeover Extreme Edition.

I really really appreciate all those answers.

We have similar motherboards so you could easily separate the cards.

Thanks, Duke. My plan is to get me a new mobo with Sata III, to go with new 2 SSD's which I am going to RAID.

              Are you switching CPUs?

No, keeping the 930 and getting a H70 cooler then overclocking it to 3.4 or so. I'm not in the mood for switching CPU's. My next CPU has to be either 6 or 8 cores.

Well, thanks to you, I'm looking at a different CPU! lol

But no, I'll end up going with one of these.

(Notice the wide space between 1st and 2nd PCI-e slots)

                    Newegg.com - EVGA 141-GT-E770-A1 LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gbs USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard

                    OR

                    Newegg.com - EVGA X58 FTW3 132-GT-E768-KR LGA 1366 SATA 6Gbs USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

I'll probably go for the second one. They seem identical except for tiny minor unimportant things.

(Sorry for hijacking the thread btw )

My CPU is 1366, that's why. CPU upgrade is too soon.

what would happen if I attached a second graphics card and I didnt have enough power? Would it ruin my computer? I did the power supply thing and I came up with a similar number as you Duke without OCing and SLIing the two cards. Suggestions?

I think you will be just fine with a second card, I think if it was too weak of a PSU you would run into issues but not fry anything.

I hope so. Im planning on getting a second card in honor of the release of BF3 lol. What could happen if the PSU was too weak? Would nothing turn on?

It's supposed shut down if it can't handle the video card. Worst thing might happen is it will keep working at max level until it dies/bsods. If it's TOO weak then it won't turn on at all. You could damage some components though. Always go with the most watts you can afford from the biggest brand name you can get. Don't skim on the wattage!

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
