Do any of you know a good place to get Japanese subtitle files for recent movies? I tried subscene.com but they dont have them. My buddy's wife is Japanese and I want to get the subs for her for a few movies that she might have a hard time following

Probably right there. Should/might be on your Windows disk. Loaded it on my last rig for a lady-friend from Nippon.

Try MPC-HC. Much better player. Get the latest builds from here.

I tried that before Zoom and it had that issue...I tried dlling a different srt file just in case and it happened the same. My intention is to hard encode the file and burn to dvd. I did that and tested on my dvd player but same thing, im at a loss here

Well figured it out...had to open it with a sub editor and convert to JIS and change the encoding from ANSI to UTF-8...thanks for the suggestions J!!

I wish I had found this editing program earlier...after messing with the screwy srt files I dll'ed for Jap Subs, I realised that I can take all my Eng subs and translate them into any language in the world then just save re-encoded as UTF-8...woulda saved a hell of a lotta time lol

Well burned the files to DVD and for some reason all the subs are showing up as question marks what could be the reason?

Try burning a DVD with the original subtitle file. Something in the conversion may have made it incompatible with DVD players.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
