    Wireless PCI card antennae.

When I disassembled Minis HP last night I had to clip the ends off the wireless antenna. The ends were soldiered to small metal plates that were embedded in the plastic bezel. I just taped the ends to screwed on the chassis which worked when I was next to the router but when brought it up to his room the signal drop o almost nothing.

Does anyone have any experience with theses things? Running a cat 5 cable up there would be nearly impossible at this point.

I could do that but I don't know where I would put those plates, do those need to be insulated from the ground or attached to the ground.

i just know how to work with metals sir. shielding , thats for engineers.

i know you just dropped cash on his upgrade, but it may just be easier to get a new wireless card. countless hours spent on trying to fix it @ ?? per hour vs. just buying a new one?

try soldering not shielded, than shielded if you can, if those dont work, buy a card, but unless new cards are over 25$ i wouldnt worry to much on it. Another 2 hours of weeding should cover the bill. of course damage done during installation, isnt that covered under installers warranty? lol

i am not going to link them, but just after doing a quick search on newegg, i saw 3, one @ 9.99, one @ 14.99, one @ 25.99. with one @ 9.99 i wouldnt even bother trying to fix save a curiosity of " can i do it"

I may just try to find some kind of switch that I can put upstairs, wired or wireless, maybe a new wireless card too.

Thats no good infamous. It has a micro sized antenna, he wont get much threw walls.

Probably gonna want a PCI card with an external antenna or a usb with external antenna or usb with its own dock so you can point it in the right direction.

Having interior brick walls has made wireless a bit of a nightmare in my house. However i bought this USB adapter recently and so far it has been nothing short of amazing.
