    Overclocking??

    For some reason, on Battlefield BC2, it takes my computer about a min longer to load the game as others....When in multi-player mode, everyone is off and in the fight before my pc ever loads it up...Its not a dino either...pretty new...Maybe over-clocking will help??...my video card came with Smart Doctor software but I have no idea about overclocking...Does anyone have any pointers on what to do?? Would help me a lot...THanks

    oh yea...vid card is ASUS EAH 5850
    Intel Core i7 2.93 GHZ
    8 GB RAM

    do you have a lot of junk running ion the back ground?

    i run steam, an AV program, and thats it. i am one of the fast loaders. i do not have a fancy HDD or anything, just a regular old 7200 rpm.

    is your HDD full? your CPU is fully up to spec. your vid card is one of those odd numbered ATI cards. its not the bad boy, seems nothing ending in 50 are, but that does not mean it is bad. just means it aint as good as a 5870. eitherway, shouldnt be holding you back.

    My guesses, HDD too full, too much back ground, or a bad internet connection.

    As for OC'ing the vid card, should be able to go up 50 Mhz on your GPU and at least that on your mem clock. Since it is an ATI card, are you using the "AMD VISION engine control center"? it downloaded on one of my driver updates. it gives me a temp guage, and manual clock adjustments. i have an auto tune, but ive never messed with it. my card runs ok, and rather warm because of warm ambient temps, i dont want to turn up anymore.

      It could be your HDD. Load times are very dependent on read speeds; my new system with BC2 installed on an SSD loads in a fraction of the time my old one took. What kind of HDD do you have?

            HDD = Hard Disc Drive

            If you have a slower hard drive it doesn't matter how awesome your system is you will load levels slower than other people.

                      I am incredibly dubious about that bigfoot gaming network card. Most cards nowadays have hardware acceleration for TSO, UDP, TCP, fragmentation and checksum operations. I honestly can't see how they could optimize the network driver/card hardware for games. For the record I test networking devices for a living...

                        DOnt know what all that fancy akros mean, but all I know is that I was losing network connection every hour just about with my onboard network card...So i disabled it and got the bigfoot...now its faster and has NOT lost connection one time since I bought the card 3 months ago...so i didnt really get it for gaming, just staying online without losing connectivity...

                          Have you already (within the last few months) installed the latest ATI video drivers. Old ATI drivers have caused startup delays for some people.

                              you can try using your smart doctor first time how long it takes to get into round then overclock it (just a little ) and time it again see if it makes a difference let me know i can probably provide some manual overclocking figures if it makes a difference
