it doesnt matter. but he wants it a Quad core w/ at least a 4gig ram( picky guy >_>)

im only familiar with AMD base builds.
Ive only built 1 Intel everrrr lol

also does he need an Os? like win 7 premium or something?

or would that not be part of his budget? im guessing he only had a laptop before? if so he will need key board / mouse (headphones/mic if he wants to talk) also a monitor? unless he has all this.. should this be included in the build ?

he has a ASUS Gamer Republic Laptop.. plays on his 42 inch TV.
i believe he has a RAZOR Gaming Mouse. a cheap USB keyboard.
OS, i have a Windows 7 Prem. 64 cd brand new that im giving him.
he doesnt need a mic.

Dont Skimp on CAS

This will give him room in the future to add a second GPU and CF. And the BE will allow him to OC when it starts feeling slow.

Tight budgets are always a pain. You end up sacrificing.

Also that APU build would be a waste of money. The chip on die is only a 6550. And if you bought say a 6790 in the future it would actually run slower if you CF the ondie with the addon board.

I agree with ditching the mobo from build one. AM3 + Nvidia chipset = crap.

The RAM you have specced is fine. CAS, RAS, Tras all mean very little in real world terms.

I'd also drop the PSU. Raidmax isn't a renowned brand, and why do you need 630W? You shouldn't skimp here. Use more of the budget he's giving you.

You also may want to factor in an after market cooler. The stock AMD cooler while ok at cooling is quite noisy.

Quick spec. No gfx card as i'm not really sure at the moment.

Pay close attention to the RAM deals on Newegg lately. They had an 8gb G.Skill RipJaw kit for $44 shipped 2 weeks ago. I missed out on that deal, but on Monday they offered an 8gb Patriot DDR3 deal for the same $44 deal (AR).

Keep in mind if you add an aftermarket cooler to the build that you may run into clearance issues on the RAM bank closest to the CPU socket, which is why the RipJaws may cause you undue hassle.

Edit: Ohh, did we forget to include the OS in this build ??? Gotta go Win7 64 bit to use the 8gb RAM, so that may be why you had 4gb kits listed. I really do like my Win7 64bit Pro corporate key !! BOOYA !!

Yes im aware of the newegg deals since theres alot of Back to School deals going on..but they are limited.

You need to sign up for their email alert deals. That's where the really good offers on RAM and other things are coming down. The general public deals aren't as nice.
