Supposedly there is a new enthusiast board coming out to replace 1366. Sandy Bridge 1155 replaces 1156.

Begs the question if the mainstream 1155 is so badass atm, what will the 1366 replacement be like

Well After supposed Nov launch of Sandy Bridge-E CPU lineup:

            i7-3960X
            8-16GB of Mem
GTX 590 but i would rather have SLI 580
            X79 Motherboard
            AX1200W PSU
Decent cooling ( i would go with custom build)

I went with a custom build by someone because of time constraints. Didn't want to have to worry about warranty and getting it overclocked as well.

Good list of the newest, fastest options for late 2011. Aim the money gun; safety off!

As long as the PSU is high-quality it could be smaller, but that decision depends on what gets connected.

Tell me more about Sandy Bridge-E ??

I assume it will require a new motherboard and will be a new socket ??

Does it sounds like it will be worth waiting for??

I'm willing to wait, I'll just need to purchase by Dec 31,1011

I would think the abacus and knotted ropes are about the extent of computing technology by this date. You may be able to get some good graphics pottery and tapestry displays.

So gloomy! Recommendations will be posted later for the highest quality, 2011 depression era, American made computational products.

Sandy Bridge-E is new CPU, socket, and chipset.

                        Here's a good summary:
Intels three Sandy Bridge E processors to be known as Core i7-3000 Series Extreme Edition | ZDNet

And Anandtech covers the technical side (April '11):
