Video card dead?

So the last few nights in BC2, my game would start stuttering when lots of stuff was happening on screen. I figured my card is nearing the end.

I ordered a gtx 560 ti earlier today.

Well, i was editing images just now and my screen went grey. No lines, just grey. My monitor power is fine. I unplugged the monitor - pc cable, plugged it back, now it says no signal.

I totally shut down the pc and will see tomorrow, but any thoughts? If i can get the monitor working, im thinking drivers?

Almost the same thing happened to my husband last week. He took his video card back to where he bought it, they tested it and it was fine. Turned out to be his motherboard.

I hope you get it all figured out.

I did a quick search and found a few threads that have information on Grey Screen issues. I would start with a driver sweep and fresh install. Good luck.

Use a program like driver sweeper to get rid of the old bits before installing.

I could have sworn that I read somewhere that grey screens had something to do with RAM but my quick Google search didn't come up with that.

See if you can start your pc in safe mode. Windows will use it's native drivers instead of any problematic nvidia ones.

I read about the RAM as well...

I updated the drivers, I cleaned the inside, checked the fans and have been running it for a few hours and no issues.

So what about black screens with the player icons still visible.
