What do you need pro for? I have Home Premium on all of my computers. The only thing I have found lacking was connecting to the domain when I log in at work.

Check the windows chart that shows the different advantages for each version. Looks like Windows 7 Home is the one that most people will ever need.

I need Pro. It has the the ability to run programs in compatibility mode. I have a number of programs like appraisal software that will not be updated to run on Win7.

That must be some old software. I haven't run across anything in a while that won't run in Windows 7. Probably the app that has given me the most trouble was BF2.

erm compatibility mode is on all version???????????
I can run stuff with home prem in compatibility mode.

Lots of older games dont run right with win7 have to use compatibility mode on them.

Sorry I meant XP Mode. Not compatibility Mode.
XP Mode is only available on Pro, Ultimate and Enterprise. And some of my jewelry software is buggy in Win7 and works great with XP Mode.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
