Just put in a new D-Link DGL-4500 with Gig wan and lan ports. It replaced a old Linksys WRT54GL runnung Tomato firmware. With the old router I was getting between 8-15Mbs down. Speed test with the new Dlink...32Mbs down and and 990Mbs up! Jed's a happy man.

Good Router. Have one of those myself.. I have a question, What firmware version are you guys running? Mine is 1.02, 2007/11/13 I been afraid to update mine cause from reading Dlink forums over the years. people have the firmware slowed download speed, issues with DHCP, router hault and needs a reboot. ect, ect ect. For the life of me, I cant decipher if the user have no idea what they doing to the router or is infact bugout firmware.

I currently have no issues so I figured better stick with the same old firmware.

I received a $70 credit from Newegg with my Toshiba Thrive. I was going to set it aside toward my new build, but that likely won't happen in March and I can't really use it on many components for that since I wouldn't be able to test function of them and having them sit will pass the return periods.
I'm considering this router (I actually bought a dual-band router this week for about 10 minutes before deciding to cancel it due to other expenses like the Thrive). Your reviews are helping.
I've give it some thought. I'm particularly interested in reports of increased connection speeds. What is your experience also with the dual band connections? I'd want to set my Thrive up on the higher band and leave most of my other wireless stuff on the lower band--is there a real benefit here?

P.S. My other immediate-term options are to apply the card to the G510 keyboard, or buy both Red Dead Redemption and Heavy Rain for the PS 3, and keep the rest for later.

Rand, I don't see why you couldn't have it all running together. My problem was when I was on BF2 my ping would go up 999 for many seconds. Come to find out I had a lot of network traffic...Wife with Facebook, daughter playing Disney games, son streaming Overhauling on Netflix, and two other computers, I wasn't too surprised.
The old Linksys I had was from 2008 and only supported up to G wireless. With Gig NICs in my PCs I figured it might be faster...it was. That Gig WAN port really makes the difference. Sometimes those older routers get wonky you know...

I ended up going with another router, an Asus model, because as I was digging into the D-Link I found a lot of references to dropped connections. Since I already experience this (less now after I finally got Comcast to do the right fixes) with my Linksys WRT54, I decided to go with something that seems a bit more reliable.
I ran into the same problem as ordering my Thrive though: Bank of America blocked the damn purchase the first time, and I had to call them to personally authorize it.
I'm so ticked that a few jerks with poor HP Touchpad experiences with Newegg--who made it quite clear they would not price match up front--got this company more or less blacklisted for BoA credit purchases.
