    Turtle Beach Z6a

Hey guys, I just bought these headphones and soon I will be doing a thorough review of what I personally think of it.

If I'm able to hear foot steps and the direction they're coming from I will definitely suggest this to anyone. Then I'll finally have a mic haha

By the way, if anyone reads this, I need to know something. I've got an MSI GD-55 motherboard with decent onboard sound. From what I've been told, the only difference these days is the amount of voices and frequencies with a soundcard.

So would it be good to get a sound card in the future or just keep with the onboard sound? Minute differences would not sell me on getting a soundcard since I do like creative software.

Genius... no one hears footsteps in Battlefield 3. Warhead was jumping behind me and I still couldn't hear him. This game doesn't have epic COD4 sound, it has Dice sound.

I can hear a tank 3 streets over, though I can't hear anyone well when in a tank.

Actually the problem is finding the tank when nobody spots it and all you can hear is the treads moving.

You guys can't hear footsteps? Weird. Other than the explosions going off, I can definitely hear footsteps and I was using crappy Gamecom 777 headphones.

You just need a better soundcard Phantom. Your noob gear is messing you up lmao

@Golden: I can almost tell which direction the tank is coming from now. Of course with impersonated 7.1 sound, it doesn't give you full control. If you ever see anything like the Gamecom 777 headphones, don't waste your money and definitely don't buy into it.

5.1 true surround sound with the TB Z6a. 4 drivers in each cup. I think that right there speaks for itself. I'm sure there are others, but not for this bargain. 99 dollars for the real thing vs a "digital" 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound headset. I think the choice there should be obvious. But we'll see when they come in. I don't know how long shipping is going to take. From what I've read on the shipping reviews, it should be "Speedy".... Yes, that's the exact word they chose... "Speedy" lmao

Anyway, you can honestly hear footsteps Phantom. You just have to be away from explosions and pay close attention. Oh... And shut your mouth Phantom. Then you'll definitely be able to hear the footsteps

lol... I never stay alive long enough to worry about hearing footsteps...also my head is to large for the headphones. I think I could turn down the base on my subwoofer though.

Are you sure you weren't listening to Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon at the same time? Were you hearing clocks too?

I would definitely go with a discrete sound card. When I got my new motherboard, I tried using the onboard sound. I quickly found out that my 5 year old X-Fi produced much better sound, especially when it came to in-game positional audio. I would recommend one of the new PCie X-Fi cards. I have this one:
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD PCIe Sound Card powered by THX TruStudio Pro Kinda overkill, but it is a great card.

Agreed, I got an XFI for BF2 years ago and never carried it over to a new build for BC2 since all sound was being processed by the CPU at that point (and probably still with BF3?). The problem I was seeing using the onboard audio was that I could not get the volume high enough on my headphones, and on my speakers I would get popping on high and low frequency ends... I threw in my XFI and this solved both problems.

I think part of it is that a discrete card usually has more amplification coming out of the card vs onboard audo processing... Thats just my theory at least (have confirmed this with 2 onboard audio chipsets vs the XFI on both boards).

Right, so Warhead got a mic, finally, and it turns out his sound card really is messed up. You know when you pick up the phone and there's a fax coming in? That's what he sounds like now. At least he has a "noise" now.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
