    SSD for a OS drive.

I may be getting a laptop and I was wondering what size / brand SSD would work out.

Here are two different ones one a sata 3 the other a sata 2
    Newegg.com - Intel 320 Series SSDSA2CW120G3K5 2.5
    Newegg.com - Mushkin Enhanced Chronos MKNSSDCR120GB 2.5

I would really like to hear how much faster that speeds things up for loading times. Can you run BF3 or another large map loading time application on that laptop?

I'd be curious to see if the solid state hard drive really speeds things up for gaming applications.

I don't have the laptop yet,m I'm trying to get one without the HDD and OS to trim down the price. If it works I will probably get one for my desktop because it's getting slow.

Go with SATAIII. I have this one:
        http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820167042
It is a good drive, and Intel is supposed to be among the most reliable.
If you can afford it, I would recommend 240GB over 120GB.

I would LOVE to see a HDtune reading of your read speeds. I bought that same SSD saying in specs "550MB read 300mb+ write" but all I got from it was 240MB read and 140MB write. That is purely pathetic. Before you ask, it's on Sata III.

On newegg, the stats for this drive are:
            Sustained Sequential Read:
            Up to 450 MB/s (SATA 6Gb/s); 265 MB/s (SATA 3Gb/s)

            Sustained Sequential Write:
            Up to 210 MB/s (SATA 6Gb/s); 200 MB/s (SATA 3Gb/s)

Using CrystalDiskMark, I get 396.6MB read and 205.3MB write.

I would take a look at the OCZ Vertex series... I have several, and they review VERY well everywhere I ever read about them.

                          OMG! It's so cute.

It's a tiny little thing, I can't wait to put it to use.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
