I ordered one today to replace the 518 I carry with my laptop. Aside from the thinner wire and the smooth look it's the same.

The thing I love about Logitech mice is since at least the MX-518 (just did a quick Wiki and it looks like they started with the MX-510, they have always offered at least an optical and laser version of the same physical shape and button layout of that mouse... And also both wired and wireless versions (I prefer the wired mice and I hope they never go away). They offer plenty of other mice too, but they seem to stand by that original design.

This way, I am still able to use the same shape and button layout on my mouse now that I got comfortable with almost a decade ago. Before that and a few times since, I have found it very difficult to adjust to a new mouse, so their line has always helped. I still have a G5 with a frayed wire that I use on my laptop when I need to work from home in a room other than my office, and my desktop currently has the awesome G500.

In other mice-related news: It seems like my switch from joystick to mouse flight in BF3 lead to a crack-bing-like obsession with flying over the weekend, unlocking all of the upgrades... But my death grip I get on the mouse from flying excitement seems to have cause the first major symptoms of carpal-tunnel (bound to happen with my job eventually)... The nerves in my right thumb are returning to normal function now after 36 hours of absolute. Soooo all that to say I am taking a break from heavy computer use after work until this weekend - I think using the iPad is helping since my hands and fingers are at different angles than they normally are.

You know, I just thought that was me... but apparently it was a design flaw. I've got a fray in mine too! Argh!

Well I have not had the problem yet with the g500, so I think it was a problem with how they did the cloth wrap around the g5... I think one of the main problems was that instead of being the wires, than a main insulator, then the cloth wrap, they left out the main insulator... Not sure if the new ones are the same way as it has not come apart YET.

I use the G500 on my desktop and the chord on it was a big factor in not getting a second one for my traveling mouse. The chord on this new one is not cloth wrapped but it is thinner then the original.

I have problems with my wrist from computer and use at work cooking ect.
Try using the mouse with the other hand at work or at home. The learning curve is around 1 week.

I use the G500 on my desktop and the chord on it was a big factor in not getting a second one for my traveling mouse. The chord on this new one is not cloth wrapped but it is thinner then the original.

Much of my cord is now armor-wrapped for kitten protection. It helps with the cloth possibly getting cut over time by other surfaces.

it should help, the learning curve isn't that bad
