I have the E8500 on my machine and I currently have it overclocked to 3.8GHz. I only had to increase the cooling by upping the fan speeds on my CPU cooler and case fans.
I starting overclocking it when BF3 came out and I did find that it gave me a performance boost in BF3. Enough that I felt satisfied that the CPU wasn't bottle necking my nVidia 560Ti as far as FPS goes.
You may want to read into overclocking. The E8500 has an excellent overclocking record and with an nVidia motherboard you should be able to use nTune to adjust your fan speeds.
I 100% agree with everyone elses comments about buying a new CPU on that motherboard. You are better off saving your money and buying an i5 and new motherboard.
