    Dead iTouch

I accidently put my iPod Touch through the wash. A full cycle. It's as dead as disco. These things can't take any water. I let it sit out for a couple of days before trying to turn it on. I left it pluged into the computer for a while too. I'd try some of the stuff on YouTube but I'm pretty sure it's FUBAR. What to do with a dead iPod?

    paper weight?
use it when you run out of clay pigeons?
    throw it at real pigeons?
    throw it at Phantom
recycle it. Make sure theres nothing on it you care about because someone can still get at the hard drive.

Alot of times people will still buy dead ones in hopes of fixing it themselves. I would give Craigslist a shot.

Bummer !! The only Apple product that I own is a Touch 8GB I won at a tech fair 2 years ago. It has its niche in my home as an alarm clock, and an RSS reader when my Touchpad tablet is a bit too big for such a task.

Jen dropped our one month old iPad 2 in the washer as it was filling with water... apparently she fills the washing machine, THEN puts the clothes in, but she had brought it down on top of the laundry basket to do some reading...

It only was submerged for a few seconds and still turned on but half the screen looked - different...

I shut it off and put it on a stand in front of the basement dehumidifier. We have a gas furnace and gas hot water heater, so when they run they really draw airflow and suck the moisture out of the air. The bad spot in the screen went away and it works fine now.

They used to put several moisture detectors in these things so they could void your warranty, but there were rumors that these were being removed in most recent apple releases.

I would give SOMETHING a try before you use it for target practice, try one of the methods for a week or 2 and see what happens... Can't hurt.

put the RICE in the ZIP LOCK bag and put your phone or your electric device in it. suck out all the air and let it sit there for AT LEAST 48hrs - 72hrs..

Why would you pull it out of the water and drop it in 3 more times before trying to dry it out?
