TBH I can't remember , it was 1059 and seemed to have decent components which were well documented.

That is the one I like also, and from everything I've seen so far it's the PC I'd say Henry should go for.

Henry I can vouch for the customer service on this. The only thing I have had to do is make sure the ram didn't move during shipping. There was a warranty issue after 2 years on the PSU.. though that wasn't their fault. They did get me all the info to get the PSU changed though.

Lol sadly enough I did find myself spending plenty of time looking at cases. Just got to have something you enjoy looking at! Thats what got me into custom building my own Xbox controllers!

I have decided I want to spend a little extra money and get something that should last me a good while again as my last PC lasted me 7 going on 8 years.

I will check out that link to digital storm here sometime.

In the mean time This is something I was looking up and picked out on TigerDirect.com and was wondering what you guys think of the build. I believe, but want to double check that everything will work together and want to know if its a good price. Also one more thing I thought of is do I need any special tools to build?

Base package: Case subject to change. I already have one in mind I like on Amazon.

Base package: CPU and motheboard are good. 4GB of RAM isn't enough and if it's 2x2GB you'll need to ditch it completely and get 2x4GB. WD Blue 1TB is an economy drive and therefore isn't the fastest even though it's 7200rpm. Never heard of the PSU brand, which to me is an instant no to this bundle.

Graphics Card: Decent and will easily play BF4 and other games well. You can get more bang for your buck with AMD, but at the end of the day it's personal preference.

Media reader: These are all a much of a muchness. I prefer USB one's as I don't think the drive bay versions are aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

DVD Burner: If your current optical drive is sata then keep it. If it's IDE buy a new one. The one you linked is a lot more than you need to pay. Get this instead.

                http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...20886&CatId=89

Cooler: If you're going all in one liquid, go Corsair.

                ------------------------------------------------------

You're getting a lot less for your money with this tigerdirect spec, and to top it of you'd have to build it yourself where as the digital storm build is better and is built for you. This should be a no brainer.

I have noticed that every time I look to build its just barely cheaper than buying a custom gaming tower. I have been thinking about if its worth my time, but then again I do enjoy doing things myself. however usually if it doesn't save me a good bit of money then I'm too lazy lol.

It is 8 gig of Ram 2x4 just has the one 4gb card listed in the discription then says quantity of 2 beside it. My current optical drive is a SATA with lightscribe even tho I have never used the lightscribe part of it. I have a 200gb SATA HDD also in my current tower if I could use it as well. I don't need a big HDD because I have a 500GB Toshiba external drive I started using since my PC was aging and I didn't want it to crash and loose everything.

I saw the prices were similar. This processor is 3.4GHz instead of 3.2 witch probably isn't a big deal now, but will it be in the future? Like I said I hope to spend the little extra and have it last me a while again. Hopefully it will be left with plenty of room to upgrade in the future also to save me money if need be. I also was thinking and realize that since I don't know anything about overclocking and all that jazz that I do not need the k version of the processor so I could save money there. I also would not need the liquid cooling if I do not plan to over clock.

Are there any places cheaper to buy parts than Tiger and Newegg? they are the only two sites I know of.

I always shop first on Newegg; the reviewers are smart. And then, I often find parts at the same price or cheaper on Amazon. In that situation, I use Amazon because of the easier return policies. I avoid products with weak reviews, and I haven't had to return anything (so far). I've never found the cheapest price on Tiger.

So I was at Barns n Noble with my girlfriend Sunday and I happened to come across a PC builder magazine and they were comparing that digital storm company along with CyberPowerPC, IbuyPower, and Alienware. I didn't get to read it all, but I read some of the general info. They said that Digital storm builds good computers but they have higher pricing and use more dated parts than the other companies.

I was also searching on newegg.com and found this "super combo" and to me it looks like a very good deal cam pared to what I have been looking at.

From what I've seen so far Digital Storm builds are using mostly current tech, and more importantly, branded hardware.

That link doesn't appear to be working for me. Just sends me here.

Your not in the price category to be buying the newest parts anyways. Maybe on their highest end they will not?
Seems your looking at price bang for buck in performance. For me I just like having someone to talk to with any questions. Bonus is they are west coast so when I get home they are still there.
