My gfx-card died yesterday. Need help finding a new one...

After 1,5 years my AMD Sapphire 6850 Toxic died. I'm back to my old 8800gts.

I wanted to get a 290x, but the reviews aren't that great and it might take a while till the cards are out in larger quantities.
Though the BF4 bundle might be a plus.

Would you guys pick a 780GTX for a new pc build. It only comes with 3GB Ram and only supports DX 11.1!

Just wanted to hear some opinions to make my decision easier. I'd love to play BF4 soon.

The 290x is a few FPS lower in most games while costing a lot less then the 780GTX. Not sure what reviews you've been reading but they're contradictory to mine.

I hate to make such decisions regarding PCs. it's a lot of money and it has to be spend well.

No warranty left on the Sapphire 6850 ? I thought it was lifetime but I guess it's only 2 years now

It just lived a bit over 2 years. That's why I'm not going to pick any Sapphire card soon.

Ordered my new parts today. Will open a new thread for my final bf4 PC build.

Bummer, I hate when you have stuff that dies a month or so out of warranty.

I have been an Nvidia guy since forever, but I made an exception for my last build and bought a Sapphire 6950 Toxic, only to have it be DOA. I decided that I had foolishly tempted the fates and returned it and bought yet another Nvidia card.

I still wish I had an AMD card around just to say I was an equal opportunity gamer.

Of the three AMD Cards I have had over the years, every one of them had serious problems. Every time I am tempted to by another AMD Card I think about the others I have bought and buy an Nvidia Card.

This is my first NV card after a long time.

Hope the extra bucks are worth it. The AMD gaming bundles rock. NV can't compete with that.

But if the card is broken, who cares about games...
