What socket will the Mobo need to be? Make sure you budget for a SSD. Ditch the sound card. Most new on board is just as good if not better than some older dedicated cards. Left over funds should be put into a new case.

I find it really interesting that with computer people really know one discipline over another. Such as client vs server side software.

I know hardware, but not enough to say for sure x goes best with y etc.
I could prob cobble together a working pc, bit it would prob work on steam. Lmao

But yeah it is a very split up, no such thing as into computers.
          Its i to hardware
          Into networks
          Into business software
          Into software enginering
          Etc

Im very server, networking, telegaphy and server software oridentated.
So it nakes my life hard picking things.
Someone asked me to help them decide on a laptop...
I cringe, they dont know better im the it guy, pcs are like cars to them.

Well the aim is to get the full 500, so hopefully it should be plenty to get a set of stuff to last like this lot has.
I would like to stay intel if i can, i dunno why the amd i had before just seemed off...
            Like it was missing something.
But anyway, im ok with onboard sound.
I was thinking of giving my pci card to someone anyway XD

When you do computers (servers/ end user support/ sys admin) for a living it becomes second nature

I'm actually considering going back to a dedicated card because I have a lot more sound glitches in games (not just BF4) with on-board than I ever did with dedicated sound. I'm not 100% sure there is a causal relationship here but I figure it could well be a factor.

Might simply come down to having crap onboard specific to your motherboard. Or bad/old drivers.

Your RAM will be triple channel. This will limit its use to a single, very outdated, and hard to buy outside of ebay, Intel motherboard socket. You may have got it for free, but I don't think you should use it.

You can use triple channel memory in new dual channel boards but it has zero guarantees that it'll work properly if at all.
