4K videos wouldn't be a problem with either CPU, also depends a lot on the player used as some of them have GPU acceleration, for example, running a 4K video with 53986kbps bitrate using the windows 10 video player i get around 30% gpu usage and about 8% cpu usage, most modern hardware would really have no problem with 4K videos.

The 8700K is great gaming cpu, X299 is a really expensive platform with no real gaming advantages.

Ok so i think i am sold on the 8700k processor and the Mother board.
Question now is type of Ram and how many watts needed.
So they have their own named ram which is a little cheaper.. or is there any difference in corsair?

      Power supply.
Should I ramp up the power.. and does increased power lower or increase general sound in the computer(i want to say no, but want to ask).
Also to which amount should I ramp up the wattage and is one company better or worse?

I'll avoid your RAM & wattage questions. No current experience.

Power supply fan noise - I've always chosen Corsair for high quality. However, last year's quiet series design reduced noise by radiating heat into the case (needed more case cooling). I like Tom’s Hardware reviews and Silent PC Review forums. When choosing parts, I pay a lot of attention to fan noise, but it's a rabbit hole.

Larger fans move more air at slower speeds which reduces fan noise. That is what sold me on the Cooler Master HAF X. It is super quiet. I know it is on because the fan lights are on.
Check fan sizes and air flow design on the cases they sell.
          I also prefer Corsair fans.
I have a Corsair 1000w HX1000 and I do not hear the fan.

Ok .. so this is what I am thinking of as a final build

Not sure about the colored fans.. as it might be just too annoying.

or here is the other one supposed to be a quite case

I like the first one. I do like lights in my case especially when it runs quiet.
Do they offer hot swap bays? The Cooler Master HAF X has two and I have come to love them. I have quite a few HDs laying around and can swap them out in seconds. This gives me lots of multiple backup drives.

I actually don't do any back ups. Never have much i need to keep, one flash drive has some pictures and recipes on it.

My worry is that the computer sits right to my left by my face and the colors will just get annoying after a while.

It does look like I can add hot swap bays to either one for like $40

Backups: Seems like I've collected more "cherishd scraps" than you. The other reason for a backup is to streamline recovery in case of disaster. I'd like to avoid reinstalling each of my software packages. I keep my second backup drive disconnected from the PC.

For occasional disk image backups I use the free version of EaseUS Todo. I haven't had a system drive crash in ~20 years, but it happens.

Why are you overpaying by over a thousand dollars? Cyberpower and iBuypower have PCs that are better specs (1080ti) for a grand less.

                    https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...2386-_-Product

I might be missing something, but my PC costs 2200 and it has a better CPU and GFX. I've been out of the game for a while, so maybe I sound ridiculous but it doesn't make any sense to me. (and they wouldn't take 20 days to ship)

I will check into it. They are not listing specs though.

I also have another pretty good 3 or 4 Desktop PC's and 4 Laptops...I also have a couple 30 Inch Monitors that can be moved around when necessary.

                            Dell UltraSharp - U3014 - 30 Inch - 2560 x 1600

Yes, I have spent a ridiculous amount on Gaming hardware. Now that I am retired and disabled so I can't get out much, I play various games 7 or 8 hours daily...

I don't want to spend money on two fast PC's. On the other hand, I haven't sorted out how to fit any kind of VR action into my office/gaming room.
