Im looking for a amd X2 socket 939 cpu. Something like the X2 5200. Anyone have one for sale?

The higest s939 X2 was the 4800. They're like like gold dust too. I've seen them go on the bay for more than a C2D chip. The most frequently found chips are the 3800 (they produced them for longer) and the 4400.

Then it can't possibly be worth it, especially when compared to lower-end C2D setup.

Just pricing it out now, you can get a new Low-end C2D chip, 2GB of RAM (decent G.SKILL stuff) and a decent Gigabyte mobo for under $250. I doubt you'd be able to find a new s939 chip for that price, and even if you do, those newer components would smoke it handily. The march of technology continues my friend

yeah that sux! I have 2 socket 939 boards that need chips. I was going to try and put a faster 939 chip in one of them...but with the prices ive seen on ebay I think i will just grab 2 AMD 64 3500+ chips

I recommend the 4400+. I still run it in my gaming machine and probably won't do any upgrade until I build my next which may be an AM2 CPU.
