I take umbrage at the first paragraph in the article. The gimp is an awesome free program and has been around for ages. Granted if I was a pro image person I'd prolly use Photoshop but, the gimp has done everything I've need it to do and it's been around for years....

Gimp is a great program, especially for it being free. True enough, photoshop is better at what it does, but I suppose Gimp doesn't cost roughly $800, either.

i've said it before and i'll say it again/ i love gimp for the price. i don't do enough photo stuff to cough up the $800 price tag, so the free gimp serves me just fine.

Might have to try this even though i use PS. I tried GIMP once but couldn't get used to it at all. Stuck in my PS ways i was.

It's certainly closer than regular gimp, but it still has quirks that make decidedly un-photoshop-like.

But as Darth mentioned, the price is right, so a few quirks can be easily overlooked
