Not sure how many ram slots you would need on your motherboard to house that many ram sticks hehe.
I *think* most motherboards now for a desktop will only support up to 8GB of RAM. Which is easily accomplished with current RAM sticks. Honestly other than server or mainframe environment, I don't know why you'd need any more than that though.

I said insane because you posted 128 GB of ram for a motherboard, which would in fact be pretty damn insane.

Unless you were talking about 128 mb in a video card.

Or maybe...juuuuusssttt maybe, I need more coffee

Even 8gigs is a lil much because there is nothing out there that requires that ammount...4 is more then adequate

if you want to get REAL technical, on the enthusiast DESKTOP(not server) based single CPU mobos up coming.....

Gelsinger confirmed Nehalem will feature a three-channel DDR3 memory controller with support for DDR3 speeds as high as 1333MHz. The triple-channel controller will appear on both desktop and server/workstation offerings, and it will support three memory modules per channel. Using current 2GB DDR3-1333 modules, that means you'd be able to cram 18GB of RAM into a single desktop PC and yield a theoretical maximum of 31.99GB/s of bandwidth?impressive, to say the least.
and considering there ARE 4gb modules in the works based off DDR3.... you'd hit 36GB with no problem. Get a server class mobo based off this, and 128 on a single board is ENTIRELY feasible construction wise...

CAD & Solidworks based programs will if you let it. it'll eat as much ram is there if it REALLY wants to. Some SQL based stuff does too.

I will be staying with XP as my friend who has Vista hates it for alot of reasons. I have Windows ME which was not good for toilet paper on the computer thats about dead ( THANK GOD ) and love XP. After hearing the horror stories about Vista from my friend and reading from other folks who want too burn it too the stake, Well i am confused when I hear some that have Vista love itARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH. But I am glad this community as always have lots of great ideas.

                    Thanks Again
