    New Gaming Computer

    Hey All

I was wonder if you guy's had any suggestions on video cards, motherboards, processors? I will have a hard drive with more space than my 120gb and lots more ram. My goal is too have as much memory as I can get. I am doing this as my other computer is 8 years old and is about too give up the ghost.
Also since I will make this gaming computer the family computer it will give me and my daughter the chance too play here at the Lair at the same time. My other question is since I only have one disc each of BF2 and COD4 how would I get us too be able too play together off those discs at the same time without having too buy the same games for her to have and play?

    A. Intel E8400, Abit IP35 Pro, EVGA 8800GT, Any DDR2.
    B. Not going to happen. You will have to buy two seperate games.

Oh, both of you playing together will be amazing!

As for using the same disc for 2 online accounts, that won't work. Each person logged in needs their unique product key when online. If you are sharing, than you can only have 1 online at a time.

I went through the same hassles when I got a 2nd family PC and my wife and I were gaming at the same time. We were into MMOs and one of us had to start fresh. But its a momentary setback for the chance to play together.
[this is where my funky sig would go. But I don't have one.
So all you get is this crappy text]

Simple, you play COD4 while she plays BF2......

Also, no need to get more than 2 gigs of RAM...

Unless you are running Vista... if you are on XP,then 2g would be ok... but if you are running Vista, I would go with more

                    Vista 64 I presume?

Then you can run with as much ram as you can afford

Vista here with 3gb ram... runs like a top and runs fine on all games except crysis with ATI x1300 Video card.

I meant that if you are running any version of Vista, the statement that 2 gigs of ram is enough is not true. It is true with xp, but I remember someone saying that Vista requires a big amount of ram just to run the OS...something like 750mb (don't quote me on that... I could look it up, but I'm lazy hehe). So for better gaming, might want to look at 3g with Vista.

But yeah, if running Vista 64, then go for as much ram as you can as it will all be beneficial. With regular Vista 32, I think more than 4g doesn't do anything (might even be less than that).

? that would be insane! lol
Not sure how many ram slots you would need on your motherboard to house that many ram sticks hehe.

my laptop runs great on vista with 3gb of ram & and 8800gts 512mb card. ALMOST better than my desktop pc, and thats got a faster processor. 3gb of ram on Vista 32bit seems to run better, than with 2gb of ram. i suppose it has alot to do with the high overhead of vista though. if your going with vista, 2gb is simply not enough.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
