    Pretty serious problem

So I was going through my services yesterday, and I was turning off ones that both Minfootball and I thought I wouldn't need running. I guess I turned off the wrong one, because now I can't do anything that would require administrative permission (which is odd because I am the only user and admin on this computer) AND I can't get back into services to turn it back on. Every time that I try to get back into services I get this screen:

Any suggestions that might help would be appreciated. I can't play games or do much of anything besides browse the internet and use Word right now. All I really need to do is figure out how to get back into services so I can turn it back on. Thanks for any input.

thats a new one to me. have you tried restoring your machine to a point before you messed with the services?

in the future do a google for services. there are MANY guides on the net that tell you what you can and can't disable.

What happens when you attempt to view services through control-alt-delete?

I can view services with ctrl+alt+del, but I can't mess with them. I will try restoring my system, I never even thought of that. Thanks guys.

It wouldn't let me do a system restore. The problem seems to be that I lost administrative privileges, but I'm sure there is more to it than that.

I hate to tell you this, but there is a virus going around out there that does this.

It kills that device and basically thats what happend to me 7 days ago thanks to wifey.

I had to do a complete reinstall, because I remedied that problem via repair console, and then another service/process DLL dissappeared, then something else failed.

If I can't fix it by then end of the day I will try that. I really don't want to have to do that though...

I'm not so sure I have virus though. This happened after I started shutting down services as per Minfootball's suggestion. I think I just shut off something I wasn't supposed to and now I can't get it back.

That is very true. I just wanted more information on this virus.

Have you tried booting into safe mode and seeing what you can access then? I'll be honest and say it isn't looking good. That's why i always advise most people to stay away from disabling services unless they really know what they're doing. But in saying that, i've never once come across this problem.

I FIXED IT!!!! You are a lifesaver Juneau. I never would have thought to start it in safe mode. Doing that allowed me to do a system restore that it wouldn't let me do before. Thanks guys for the quick feedback. This is part of why I stay here at Cain's Lair.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
