I just checked Newegg and they aren't available but the priced dropped $20.00.

EDIT: There is a MicroCenter in Boston and my schedule gives me about 20 hours between trips on Saturday. This may work out OK. I will call and see if they have one at 1000.

I pulled the triger and ordered the list without the CPU. The Micro Center in Boston will hold a CPU until the end of the next business day so I plan on calling them tomorrow AM to hold it for Saturday. I just hope they don't sell out before then.

        Go here first

Check out those cpu scores and ask yourself why not buy a wolfdale?
Prices on wolfs are droping fast as supply out paces demand.

They need less power and will oc pretty well if your into it.

I bought the CPU! I called the Micro Center in Boston and they have 19 Q9450s in stock. I put one on hold and I will pick it up tomorrow. The only problem is that because its a OEM CPU they require that you buy a heat sink When I told him I already had one he told me that he could throw in a cheap one for $10.00. So it's the same price has Newegg. Oh well I can hopefully throw all this stuff together next week.

          I'll post pics.

You have to buy a heatsink with an OEM CPU? That's a new one for me.

I don't understand how they can make you buy a heatsink...

LOL I know it seems strange I guess they aren't making me buy a HS but refusing to sell me a CPU if I don't. Hey it's Boston scams are all over the place.

Saying that. The place where my girlfriend works will only sell new consoles to people if you also buy a game. It's a joke tbh. There should be laws in place to stop retail outlets forcing people into an unwanted purchase.

Because they can.... there is probably some OEM license that says you need to buy an additional piece of hardware that might be enforceable there.

Windows OS OEM works the same way. you are NOT allowed to buy just an OEM license. you MUST buy a piece of hardware to go with it. hence why they always have "deals" so they can skirt the legal issues.

When I bought my e2180 from TigerDirect, they also require you to buy a HSF on the same order to be able to use the 90 day warranty directly thru TigerDirect.

I skipped on their crappy HSF selection and used my own, but even if the chip was faulty, I could contact Intel directly and go through the RMA process. TD seems to be annoying in that regard, but I still got the chip I wanted for dirt cheap.

On Saturday I went to the the Micro Center in Cambridge MA and picked up my Q9450. Sha Wing...

The guy I talked to pulled out some 775 cooler that was $2.99. So I could have been out the door for under the $359.00 price tag that NewEgg has this thing for but I went for a CompUSA clearance copper HS that should look better in the "Pink Monster".

I can't wait to install this thing in my rig and build the new machine for my stepdaughter.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
