IE error.

Hey guys help me please,

Every 5 minutes I get an Internet Explorer error


You know, the typical:
"Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience..."

AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 05a81eb3

Any thoughts? thanks

The first thing I would do is scan your system for viruses and spyware.

Then I would download Firefox and start using it instead of IE.

well, I isntalled the Firefox, it's so fast now... I'll wait until the Elf is home about he viruses thing :/

You might want to look into something called hijackThis. I think you have something trying to redirect your browser traffic.

Try restarting the computer if you haven't. Always a good first step, and I've seen cases where IE just decideds to be retarded. But yes....use Firefox for the love of all that is holy

Open IE
Tools > Manage Addons (IE6 not sure about 7)

disable any addons which you do not recogonise, restart IE.

Thats another thing to do.

My recommendation as well. Sounds like a damaged add-on or plugin.

If it does it every time at about the same duration, it is more than likely an add on. Had this problem with someone using IE6, and upgrading to 7 fixed it and allowed to manage the add ons. If you can't put your finger on the right add on that is causing the problem, you may try restoring your machine to an earlier time when you know it wasn't doing it....which should be a last resort.
