    MY quad core OCing

Well guys I was able to get my Q4850 up to 3.4 and keep the temps below 60 after running Prime for 1.5 hours. When I tried 3.6 I got a BSOD so I pulled it back. The next test will be a good gaming session.

The strange thing is that my 3D06 score is worse then it was when compared to the score I had with the Conroe in there at 3.2. I don't know what is going on and I will be researching it.

What RAM are you using ?? I think you might be hitting the limit for DDR2-800 RAM. I pieced together my next upgrade, planned for mid-June, and here's what I am looking at:

    MSI P7N SLI - $150
    Intel Q9450 - $335
    G.Skill DDR2-1000 4gb - $80

The general consensus is that the DDR2-800 RAM is going out of whack at the FSB speeds that are in the 9450's 'sweet spot' for an overclock. The G.Skill I priced is cheap, but it does not have Micron D9 chips, but I have also had my Micron D9 chipped-RAM fail already after only 8 months, so I'm trying these out on a whim.

Looks like 3.6 is the highest we'd expect from these chips unless you plan on a WC setup. That's not bad at all, given you have FOUR cores to play with, but some gamers are passing on the extra cores and going with the 84/8500 and a more easily attainable 4.0 ghz. Like I said, I'm waiting until mid-June before I commit, just to see what shakes out on that hardware dilemma.
