Some do. Intel cards and Nvidia Cards with Turbocache use system memory to at least a certain extent. Makes them pretty sucky too

Thats why I won't ever sink big $$ into a lappy. There's no way you can repair it if it bites the dust. I have a dead gamer laptop that was given to me, but knowing it needs a new board, I can't even FIND that board for sale anywhere.

As I said before some notebook manufacturers skimp and the onboard video card actually uses system memory....

I googled your laptop and it looks like it has a removable graphics card. however, doing a search on ebay only turned up a GF 7600 go graphics chip

Well, the fact that it's removable looks good for me. I'll be calling up and sending it in to Toshiba, so they should be able to replace it.

Thanks for all the info guys. I appreciate it.

Lucky for me I didn't actually have to pay for the laptop. It was a prize, which makes me think that it isn't still under warranty. There's no way I'd spend the cash on something like this. It's too big and heavy to carry around as a laptop, and I have no need to game on the go, so it mainly just sits on my desk as a secondary computer. Hopefully the repair bill isn't too outrageous...

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
