For anybody following this thread, if you are in the market for a card, make sure you have excellent case ventilation if you plan to buy an 8800GT, as the cooler for that card seems to be adequate only when given a good amount of airflow, and that is why the GTS card is a better buy, even though its pricier to purchase initially.
I've scratched the GT off of my list and have to decide on either an 8800GTS (G92) or a pair of 9600GT cards.
There isn't much going on at the high end for vid cards, at least until AMD comes up with a better card than what we are getting used to from them. Nvidia is sitting on its butt and still selling a 1.5 year old GTX card as its top dog (or a year old Ultra, altho they are rare compared to the GTX series) with no incentive to push the envelope when the cards are still being bought.
