Also- Im going to have to question everyone in here on what was just said.

I have this card, and I watch TV on my computer all the time. All I did was connect the input portion of the line to the back of my cable box and I am done.
Colors and letters are the same as what is on the tips of the cabling.

On the back of every decoder box is a DVI output that works with EVERY monitor with a DVI input. The limits on MOST set top boxes is that you can only have one input- so if you have it set up with DVI and regular, you are NOT going to be able to pull that off. It's one or the other, and you often have to go into the options menu (provided by your provider) to select it (soft menu) in order to for the set top box to know how to send the decoded information.
We took my rig over to a buddies house with Satellite, and I will have to say that this did not work.

I think -IRC- Mike told me in a PM that he assumes it is the signal direction, but I'm going to have to say that it appears to be Smurfs inside the core that are causing a problem.

Yep. The satellite receiver outputs only on one frequency (frequency 3 or 4) to the TV whereas a coax from your cable provider outputs on multiple frequencies (hence the channels). In reality, the PC will only be receiving ONE frequency and therefore only detect one channel but the satellite receiver will be receiving the multiple frequencies via the dish from the orbiting satellite.

Same thing goes with a TV/Satellite combo. The TV is only receiving on one frequency from the receiver (channel 3 or 4) and you do not change frequencies with the TV, rather you would with the satellite receiver using the buttons on front of it, or the remote. The TV stays on the same channel or frequency.

BINGO !! Thats what made my head hurt when the installer explained it to me. Mike, I may just bug you via PM or even a personal call in a few weeks, if you don't mind, to try and figure this out with your help.

I assume it will never have the convenience of the cable signal and its setup, so I still want to use and record to the SFF box, I just need to figure out how to toggle between the two and hook it up.

I don't know how much I'll be able to help since we never could get MC to draw an image on the pc's monitor, but I'd be glad to help out any way I can. I think someone here mentioned something about a converter. I am interested to see what this is all about.
