    Wtf?

I think the board has a glitch- my question around computer equipment is missing.

I dropped my thread about going cheap. I got a new job, doubled the salary and extended my comission structure. Fat signing bonus- can anyone here say ReeeTAIN errrrrr (affleck in Goodwill Hunting)

A lot has changed and I am trying to catch up by taking a shortcut.
Please omit the "because it is l33t and I w1ll |r0xx0r j00|" out of this conversation.
    Facts only please-

    .1. Extreme vs Quad ?
.2. Memory- what is the rule of thumb on buying this?
.3. SLI Mobo- if I buy one, and I only use 1 card- is that possible/bad?
.4. Power Supplies- who in the F needs 11 watts?

    Thanks-

    ~Hammy

    1. They make extreme quads. Not sure what you're asking. Do you mean Dual Vs Quad?
    2. No rules. If you're overclocking the RAM it's always good to get RAM with a higher FSB than what is needed. No brand is better than any other. RAM timings and DDR2.... Don't get me started.
    3. It's possible but i complete waste of money. SLI boards aren't the greatest aroud and the greatest are somewhat cheaper
    4. I hope most people need 11 watts. You should really be looking at 500w+ for a top end PC these days. And also making sure it has at least 30A on the 12V rails. Anything over 700w is a waste.

      I meant 1100 wats
Is there a difference between quad and the Extreme quad?

The extremes are generally clocked a bit higher (due to being "premium" parts), and they are multiplier unlocked. So unlike regular chips where you can only affect the FSB, the extreme chips allow both the FSB and multiplier to be changed. Usually makes for very high overclocks, but at a very premium price. They also usually have more cache, though I think that might not be the case with the new Peryns.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
