Do not buy cheap PSU's! If you have to cut back somewhere, buy a cheap case without a PSU and then buy your PSU seperate. 500w will more than suffice. Nice choice on the optical drive btw. Got that exact one in my HTPC. Not sure what kind of h/w acceleration the 8800GT offers for HD video though.

I glad somebody else was thinking the same way I do.
Plus being an old electronics tech. The easier it is for a PS to meet its needs the less heat it puts out and it last longer. If you have a 550 suppling 500 worth of power it would fry a lot faster than a 1000 suppling the 500.

Amps are more important than watts. Even a full blown overclocked PC will pull about 350w in total.

True, I won't planning on going into the ohm's law stuff though

Corsair 650 unit ... dunno what your price range is, but I don't buy any PSU that is under $100 anymore.

At $50, its a nice dual rail 20a +12 rail unit. I still prefer more PSU than the second one, but its a cheap, quality unit as well.

Can't complain with a Corsair unit. They're Seasonic in principal but you some upgraded parts that make them even better.

                            Well make sure you get a G92 8800 and not a G80.
There is a good performance difference in them. If your looking for longer life go with an 8800 gts with g92 chip, they can be oc slightly and will perform on par with a gtx.
Or you could just wait a lil while ive heard rumors that nvidia and ati are gona launch some new cards soon that should help lower prices more.

Ty for all suggestions I don't think I'll be OC'ing because I'm afraid I'll break it and I don't even know how

overclocking is easy when u get the right software, however i really hate to confuse my hardware as well as confuse myself. I don't think they will add too much to it anyways.
