    No SLI for Nehalem

    This is really really dumb.

Fudzilla - Intel won't let Nvidia make Nehalem chipsets

I think we are in for a long drawn out pissing contest. I hope Intel doesn't crush Nivida because the competition is good for us consumers..

Not sure how true this is but i've heard on the grapevine that the Nehalem chips will also be multi and FSB locked. No overclocking for Nehalem.

How much you wanna bet Nvidia will open SLI up to Intel chipsets in exchange for Intel granting them the license for Nehalem ??

Intel has bigger things to worry about. The New York Times is now reporting that the FCC is opening an anti-trust investigation today.

I'm sure by the time it gets sorted out we may actually have a game that needs this much CPU.

Well there is going to be open FSB and multi nahalem but only QX version , anyway , i think is fair INTEL to play this game with NVIDIA , since nvidia was keeping SLI only for NV chipsets , and Intel want the SLI for his motherboards. So NV is paying for that now.

                  Where did you hear this?

Multiplier locked, sure, everyone has been doing that for years (save for the top-end "performance" chips). Even though the memory controller is going to be on-chip for Nehalem, I can't imagine they'll be locking things down.

Again, it's all still speculation and shadow confirmations from anonymous sources, but it seems unlikely Intel would really shoot themselves in the foot like that. Even with the performance crown, AMD isn't THAT far behind. And if they do lock things down and lock Nvidia out as well you'll almost assuredly see a migration back to AMD. I was looking forward to this new chip, as I'm coming up on 2 years and the performance gains these chips have been showing even early on are nothing short of phenomenal. But if they are going to lock us out like that, then screw them, I'll go AMD even if it's not quite as fast....at least it'll be cheaper and overclockable:

Just something i heard on the grapevine. The supposed reason was to stop OEM builders selling preoverclocked models for extra profit.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
