    New Raptor on the way.

Western Digital developing 20,000RPM Raptor to take on SSDs?

I honestly don't see a point to this at this time. How many people are really so concerned about having rpm's that high? If you need something like that you may as well just get a SSD drive, or stripe drives in a RAID 1 array. And with prices falling and capacity going up, SSD drives are starting to look like they could overtake mechanical hard drives in the next few years pretty easily.

As a proud Raptor in RAID 0 owner, I say would they please make them less noisy? They are soooo freakin LOUD! It's like i am grinding my own teeth, very annoying at night!

The Velociraptor is appreantly a lot quiter than it's predessors.

SSD has a long long way to come. Access times are great but average read speeds are below mechanical HDDs by quite a way.

These new drives, if realised, will more than likely not be available until 2010 (ish).

I seriously doubt that will fit inside any standard PC case.
