What does he mean when he got 97 FPS for Devil May Cry 4? when did it come out for PC?

70X faster than an 8800GTX? how is that possible????

And one more thing, since the last series 98's and such. what is next? the 10800???

Hum, I seem to recall paying about $250 for my amd 6000+ dual core and gotta admit the only thing I don't like about it is the fact that it runs with a high voltage (1.4v stock) so I can't really push it much because I can't bump up the voltage any (MoBo/Bios restrictions).

Well, it didn't take Nvidia long to respond to the threat of the AMD 4850, did it ??

Yea, what a kick in my butt ... I save $100 if I buy the GTX card now, only to lose it in three months when I Step Up to the GTX260 !! I'll be paying it on the back end instead of the front end, so I can't really make out well on the deal, but that is clearly the way I want to go.
I'd give Crossfire a shot if I didn't already have an Nvidia 750 board (less than $400 for two 4850s sounds like a perfect way to game) but for a build that normally only takes me two weeks to buy all the parts, I am going to be waiting 2.5 months to get everything together due to the timing of everything.

Are you wanting a 8800GTX or a 9800GTX? I can't see the GTX260 being faster than either of those two tbh.

That card looks like it needs some support on the end, before it snaps off.

Juneau, I'm looking at the 9800GTX. You are aware that Nvidia screwed the pooch on naming that card, and it is fact nothing more than a clock bumped 8800GTS G92 ?? Honestly, the 9800GTX would get its lunch taken from it by an 8800GTX ... The 9800GTX should have been named the 9600GTX, IMO.

Still, it will be under $200, and that's what my budget allows me unless I drop my 9550 CPU fixation and settle for the Q6600.

Here's some meaty 4850 numbers to chew on. Nvidia is trying their best to answer back with the 9800GTX+, but look at these numbers:

It looks like the 4850 is shaping up to be the Porsche, and the 9800GTX is the Mustang, fast on a straight but crappy at high speed cornering.

And keep in mind the GDDR5-equipped 4870 hasn't even been released yet....no doubt that will do even better (and for likely the same price as the 9800GTX).

Just been reading another review of the 4850. Looks as though AMD have finally sorted the AA problems.

Are you really thinking of going from a 9088GTX to a GTX260 Walkin?

Well if they had been making them when i bought my 4800+ they would have been like $1500. x2 4800+ only had competition from amd fx57 and that was a single core chip.

Back to the subject at hand. What it really comes down to it, it will be up to the person spending the cash to decide what they really want. My mind has already been made up since i just have to buy a second card in a few months and go back to SLI. If you have the money to buy a 280 card then by all means go for it but make sure you have the time to properly configure the card or your just wasting your money. As for Ati over nvidia its up to each person to decide. No matter how many debates ppl have it all boils down to what 1 person wants not what everyone else thinks.

I dont blindly listen to what review sites show since they are human and they are prone to make mistakes or not try different settings while they are doin there benchmarks. Same goes for members posting benchmarks. Its just like the small text on viagra commercials says... Results will vary...... And if your computer keeps you hard for more then 4 hours then its time to get off the porn sites

Geez, this decision is KILLING ME !! Honestly ... I've been dead set on the 9800GTX->GTX260 Step Up when I found out the 260 was lowered in price to $399.

But here's the kicker .. I could hold out for another month and a half and get a 4870X2 for ... hmmm, I'm not sure ... but that would be the fastest card available, bar none.

That's less than I'd pay for the 260, that's for sure.
Edit: Thinking about the possible $550 outlay for the 4870 and I'll rule that out. But the 4870 single looks appealing at $339 retail.

If you did go for a GTX260 after the 9800GTX i wonder what the % increase in performance will be.

I'd guess (altho I can't find squat to back me up on it) that the GTX260 outscores the 9800GTX by 35-45% depending on the game. Running at 1920x1200, I really could use the extra horsepower, so it all comes down to what high end game might come out in the year's time that this card needs to last me until the next upgrade.

Buying the 9800 now just allows me to also buy RAM and a HSF, and that finishes off my build. With no side jobs to do in about a month, I hafta watch how I spend it before the well is dried up.
